Obituary of Carl A. Breccia
Carl A. Breccia, 93, of Hamilton, NJ, passed away on August 25, 2023.
Born in Trenton, NJ, he resided in Bordentown before moving to Hamilton. Carl attended St. Mary's Catholic School, and graduated from Trenton Catholic High School in 1949. Carl proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a radioman aboard the U.S.S. Taconic Amphibious Force Command Ship from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict, most notably in Greenland, the Caribbean, and Italy. After his honorable discharge in 1954, he served seven years in the Seabees Reserves and began his career as a civil engineer for The State of New Jersey Department of Transportation. Carl retired as a Principal Engineer after 43 years of service. He met the love of his life, Mary, while volunteering, and they married in 1957. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Hamilton Elks, Italian American Sportsmen's Club, Colonial Sportsmen's Club, DOTRA, the NRA, and the Falls Township Rifle and Pistol Association. An avid hunter and musician, Carl enjoyed being outdoors, hunting in NJ, PA, and CO with his son, brothers-in-law, and nephews, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.
Son of the late Nello and Marcelia (Brachelli) Breccia, and his loving wife of 65 years, Mary (Bodnar) Breccia, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Marianne Breccia of Cape Coral, Florida, and his daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Stephen Kreinakker, Jr. of Hamilton. Carl will be missed dearly by his grandchildren, Stephen Parrey, Carla Breccia Guarini (Thomas), Samantha Breccia, Nicole Breccia, and Gabrielle Kreinakker, his great-grandson, Luca Guarini, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 11:00am at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church 1282 Yardville Allentown Rd, Allentown, NJ 08501. A calling hour will be held at the church from 9:30am to 11:00am. Interment will be in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery Clover Ave, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, or St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church of Trenton c/o 191 Norman Ave, Roebling, NJ 08554.
