Valerie Svendsen-Binz
August 23, 1961-January 4, 2025
Valerie passed away in her sleep, just hours after her beloved dog Oreo left this Earth. The two of them had a connection that went far beyond this physical world.
Born in Philadelphia and raised on Long Beach Island, Valerie is the daughter of the late Carol Webster and Lars Svendsen. Valerie is survived by her children, her pride and joy as she would say, Christopher and Devin (Lisa) Binz, her siblings Lars Svendsen, Amy Webster and her children Kaeleigh and Augustus, Timothy Webster and his son Ryan. Valerie is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Laura Binz, and her two beautiful granddaughters Cecily and Eliza. She is also survived by her long time partner, James McDaniels. Valerie was loved by many including her life-long friends, extended family, and those she spent most of her time with in her later years.
Valerie served in the Air Force right out of high school and was always proud of her time in the service. This is also where she met her future husband and father to her children, Richard, who has always played a major role in her life and whom she loved dearly. Valerie spent much of her time in Veterans Park with Oreo enjoying nature, where she felt most comfortable and at peace. Valerie had this warm and caring presence that invited complete strangers to share their life stories with her.
Valerie loved rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles and would blast her rock 'n roll music whenever she could. A celebration of Valerie's life will be held at a later date (details will be shared privately).
The family plans to honor Valerie and Oreo with a memorial bench in Veterans Park in Hamilton, NJ. The family requests any donations be made to Operation Second Chance, which provides support to wounded, injured, and ill veterans.
