Ernest H. Severin 91 of Hamilton passed away September 26, 2024. He was a 1950 graduate of Trenton High School and was the Co-Captain of the swimming team that won the state championship and the Eastern Interscholastic Championship that year. A United States Navy veteran 1950-1954 of the Korean War, serving as an EN 3/c (SS) aboard the Submarines USS Perch (SS313) and the USS Pomfret (SS391) operating out of Yokosuka, Japan. Assigned to comsubpac. He was in the 49th New Jersey State Police Class that graduated in August 1955. He served in Troops "A", "C", "D" & "E". He was one of the original members of the State Police Underwater Recovery Unit formed in 1957, and was an aide and driver to Governor Richard J. Hughes. He retired in 1987 as Capt. Commanding Troop "D" New Jersey Turnpike after 32 years of service. He was a member of the "Former Troopers Association", the U.S. Submarine Veterans, VFW Post 491 and the American Legion. Son of the late Werner E. Severin and Catherine Garots Severin. Brother of the late Werner J. Severin, P.H.D. Surviving are his wife Renate S. Severin. Daughters, Kathie Yates (Tom) of Yardley, PA. Carol Ahl (Patrick) of Yardley, PA. Lynn Barth (Steve) of McLean, VA. Tina Vigna (Christopher) of Hamilton. Son, Brian Walter of Hamilton. Grandchildren, Grace and Simone Barth, Hope Carter, Matthew and Madalyn Vigna and Nicole Vigna, Reily and Kaely Walter. Great grandchildren, Finnegan and Judah. Nephew Paul Severin of Austin TX. Brother in law, Uwe Tittl. Private funeral services will be held for the family as per his request, by Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, Hamilton.
