George C. Henger Obituary

George C. Henger, Jr., 91, of Hamilton, passed away on January 27, 2023. Born in Yardville, he has been a lifelong area resident. George was a graduate of Hamilton High School West. He was a parishioner of St. Raphael's-Holy Angels Parish. George was a proud Navy Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was retired from the State of NJ Department of Education. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the NJ Beach Buggy Association, and a life member of the Friends of Barnegat Lighthouse State Park. George was a devoted family man who cherished the times spent fishing and crabbing with his grandchildren.


Son of the late George C., Sr. and Mary M. (Cimore) Henger, he is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Mary K. (Galayda) Henger of Hamilton, his children Deborah Ongaro and her husband Richard of Columbus, and Mary-Jo Kamin and her husband Richard of LaPlata, MD, his grandchildren Christopher Ongaro and his wife Amy, David Ongaro and his wife Marisa, Richard Ongaro, Jr., Kristen Wiggins and her husband Chad, Katherine Grant and her husband Taylor, and Matthew Kamin, great-grandchildren Rocco Ongaro, Andrew Ongaro, Eloise & Oliver Wiggins, and James Grant.


The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 10:30am at St. Raphael's Church 3500 South Broad Street Hamilton, NJ 08610. Interment will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery 400 Woolsey St. Hamilton, NJ 08610. Calling hours for relatives and friends will be on Wednesday morning from 8:00am to 10:00am at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home 2946 South Broad Street Hamilton, NJ 08610. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry c/o Sacred Heart Church 260 High St. Mount Holly, NJ 08060.
