Nick and Nancy,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of your mom! I clearly remember Aunt Pauline and my mom back in the day! They would prepare such wonderful Slovak meals whether it was in Trenton or Livingston. I can picture them now swapping recipes!! I clearly see them sitting at the kitchen table, communicating in Slovak, and I never had a clue what they were saying, but it was obvious they were such good friends and cared for each other deeply!
I know you mentioned Sokol, and to this day, I don't know what it is, but I do remember the dancing, Slovak costumes, parties and the the amazing smells of Slovak culinary delights being prepared in a kitchen for all to enjoy!
Thank you for being such a wonderful son and taking care of her all these years. She was and will continue to be an amazing woman. God bless you and give you strength and courage, peace and harmony in the difficult days to follow.
