Obituary of Olga Kloc

Please share a memory of Olga to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Olga Kloc, 92, longtime resident of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, January 9th in her home and surrounded by her loving family. She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Iwan (John) Kloc; her sister, Paulina Radusepp; and her brother, Myron Hirniak. She is survived by her sister, Irena Hirniak; her children, Maria and Bela Kamensky, Roger and Stephanie Crea, and Walter and Marianne Kloc; her grandchildren, Danielle and Bill Higson, Rebecca Crea and Paul Maklary, Adrienne Tracey and Matthew Crea, David Crea, Jonathan and Nicole Kloc, Justin and Meghan Kloc; great grandchildren, Rachel Maklary, Nora and Colin Crea, Anna, Claire and Elizabeth Kloc, and Evelyn, Justin Jr. and Vivian Kloc; and many nieces and nephews in Estonia and Poland. Olga was born in 1927, in Hlibowicz, Ukraine, the daughter of Josephine and Dymtri Halajko. She lived in French-occupied Germany after WWII, where she met the love of her life, Iwan. Together, with their daughter, Maria, they immigrated through Elis Island in 1950 and built a home in the Deuztville area of Hamilton, NJ. An active member of her community, Olga was a member of St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, an officer in the Ukrainian American Youth Association, and a regular at the Hamilton Township Senior Center in Trenton, where she made many friends later in life. Even in her spare time, Olga was always busy. Any given day you could find her crocheting countless doilies, embroidering pillows, reading or working on her favorite word searches. In summer she would be caring for her impressive garden of dahlias and canna lily or making jars and jars of pickles and sauerkraut. Above all, Olga cherished her family and loved cooking with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, particularly her famous coleslaw and potato salad. Her cooking and baking were both a link to her Ukrainian heritage and her legacy to her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home 2946 South Broad Street Hamilton. The funeral will begin at 9:00 am at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 am at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Intermit will be in St. Mary's Byzantine Cemetery. Memorial contributions or donations may be made to St. Josaphat's Catholic Church 1105 Deutz Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08611 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
