Obituary of Ihor B. Senyk

Please share a memory of Ihor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ihor Boris Senyk (fondly known as IB to his co-workers) was born in Rozworjany, Ukraine, April 22, 1935. He immigrated to the United States after World War II and eventually settled in Trenton in 1951. In 1958, Ihor married the love of his life, Daria, and moved to Cincinnati, where he served in the US Army from 1958-1960. After returning to Trenton, he graduated from the Newark College of Engineering at NJIT. During this time, Ihor and Daria had two daughters, Irene and Marta, who he smothered with love. The family eventually moved to Hamilton where he resided for the rest of his life. Ihor worked as a Civil Engineer for the State of New Jersey, Department of Transportation, and retired from there after 36 years of service. He was an active member of Ukrainian-American Veterans Post 25, St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, and Ukrainian National Home. Ihor was a wonderful, fun-loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, and was loved by all who knew him. He was a great conversationalist who enjoyed a nice debate especially over a long dinner where he'd always finish eating last. If not going to a church dance, a good game of cards would normally follow with his family and friends and watching a late-night soccer game was always an option. He was vibrant, full of life and always had a smile on his face. Some of his favorite times were family vacations down in Wildwood Crest where he loved the ocean and a good fish fry. His greatest pleasure in life though were his grandchildren. He reserved special bear hugs for them and took every opportunity to spend time with them whether it was sleepovers, road trips or watching their games. He was their greatest fan, and they were his pride and joy. Ihor was the son of the late Mychajlo and Maria Skrypczuk Senyk, brother of the late Roman and Orest Senyk, nephew of the late Irena, Wolodymyr, Ewhen and Myron Skrypczuk. He was predeceased by his wife Daria Syrotiuk Senyk. He is survived by his daughter, Irene Coira and her husband, Robert, and their three children Christopher and his wife Kristen, Michael and Nicholas; his daughter Marta and her two children, Tania and her husband Anthony, and Larissa; his great-grandson Luke; his nephew and niece, Roman and Natalie Senyk; and his first cousin Oleh Skrypczuk and wife and family. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, 2946 S. Broad St. Hamilton. Requiem Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1195 Deutz Ave. Trenton. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery No. 3 in Hamilton. Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, with Parastas held at 7 p.m. during the viewing hours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ukrainian-American Veterans Post 25 during viewing hours.
