Walter A. Bork 91 of New Canaan, Connecticut passed away August 19, 2018 in Hamilton, NJ Mr. Bork was born in Chicago, IL and spent his youth in Buffalo, NY. He later resided in the Bronx, Dobbs Ferry, NY and has been a resident of New Canaan, CT for the past 30 years. Walter Bork is a 1951 Oklahoma University Petroleum Engineering Graduate. His education prepared him for an adventurous career that began in West Texas with Gulf Oil and culminated in New York City where he served the Mobil Corporation until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Bork served two years in the United States Army. He trained recruits at Fort Belvoir, Virginia and served as a company commander in Korea with a division of the Engineer Pipeline Company. Following his distinctive service in the military, Mr. Bork started his career with Mobil at a refinery in Buffalo, NY. After 5 years, he was transferred to Mobil's headquarters in New York City where he would spend the majority of his career in the manufacturing and supply side of the company. His work ethic and dedication to Mobil did not go unnoticed. Mr. Bork would rise in rank, serving as general manager of corporate supply and distribution, responsible for the oversight of crude and product supply to Mobil affiliates worldwide. With the implementation of nationalizing many crude producing areas. Mr. Bork would provide leadership in fairly distributing the limited crude supply. He was elected to the Mobil Corporate Board, where he served as vice president. Walter was a loving husband married to the late Claire Bork for 60 years. He was also a devoted father and grandfather. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Wingedfoot Country Club in Westchester, NY and a member of the Silvermine Country Club in Norwalk, CT. Son of the late Walter A. and Frances Rose Raczka Bork. Husband to the late Claire Bork. Granfather of the late Harris Bork. Brother of the late Dorothy Eschberger and Connie Rao. Surviving are his son and daughter in law, Richard and Joan Bork of Robbinsville, NJ Grandchildren Hayley, Cory and Tyler Bork. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services and interment will be held at a later date under the direction of Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, Hamilton NJ Memorial contributions in the name of Walter A. Bork may be made to the Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis @ curearthritis.org
