John R. Grussler (Jack), 86, of Yardley, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2023, with his loving wife by his side. Born in Trenton, NJ, Jack attended Trenton Catholic High School before pursuing a teaching degree at St. Bonaventure University. He taught at Trenton Catholic High School as well as Cathedral High School, but the majority of his career was spent teaching at Notre Dame High School. In total, he spent 55 years teaching in the Diocese of Trenton. His deep faith in the Catholic Church led him to become ordained as a permanent deacon at his home parish of Holy Cross Church in Trenton, NJ on May 13, 1989. As deacon, he presided over his grandchildren's weddings. He also baptized his grandchildren, as well as many nieces, and nephews. Jack enjoyed fishing, photography, traveling, and watching his grandchildren play sports. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Son of the late John and Bertha Grussler and grandfather of the late Shelby Rowe, he is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dolores Grussler; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rosemarie and Raymond Micharski; his daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Yuhas, Patricia and Jeffrey Fisk, Jacqueline and Brian Cantlin, Janice and David Rowe, and Karen Clayton; his grandchildren Melissa, Kristopher, Lindsay, Lauryn, Alex, Hayley, Jaclyn, Michael, Emily, Jonithan, and Jessica; his great-grandchildren Jaxson, Angelyna, Emilia, Mason, Mackenzie, Lillian, and Isla, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. at Holy Cross Church, 215 Adeline Street, Trenton, NJ. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church. Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Team Gleason in honor of his granddaughter Shelby. Arrangements are under the care of Knott's Colonial Funeral Home 2946 South Broad Street Hamilton, NJ 08610. Condolences for the family can be left at www.knottscolonialfuneralhome.com.
