Eugene "Gene" John Grybowski, 79, passed away comfortably, on Monday, November 16, 2020, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Gene was born on June 9, 1941 in the Ukraine and moved to the Trenton area as a child. Gene was a member of the Air National Guard. He worked as a Professional Engineer for the NJDOT for 45 years, having received his engineering degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1978. He was a very proud engineer having developed complex projects, like the traffic flow for the original Meadowlands Stadium. He always happy to help his church by providing volunteer engineering services. He married Mary Leskiw, whom he adored each and every day, in St. John's Church, Newark, NJ on May 17, 1969. Even in his final moments, his eyes would light up when Mary came into sight. He was a handyman who could fix anything, or at least tried to. He had the greenest lawn on the planet and was always working to perfect his yard. Most of all, he loved spending time in Harvey Cedars with his family. Son of the late John and Miroslawa (Steizer) Grybowski, he is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary (Leskiw) Grybowski, his children Lisa Miller, Melanie Mertz and her husband Boyd, EJ Grybowski and his wife Sarah, his grandchildren Cameron Mertz, Curvie Miller, Braden Mertz, Kyle Miller, Carter Grybowski, and Reid Grybowski. A calling hour will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020, from 8:30am to 9:30am at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home 2946 South Broad Street, Hamilton, NJ 08610. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00am at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church 202 Grand St., Trenton, NJ 08611. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Byzantine Cemetery, Hamilton.
